Snap back to reality. Back to New York City.

Back in the city. My trip home was pretty hectic. Since it was half business (well, maybe 75% business) that I was only able to go to the beach twice! :(

However, my friend Roger took me on an "booze cruise" which was pretty fun. You basically pay $35 to go sailing on this boat and it is all you can drink Mai Tais and beers. Pretty awesome, I gotta say.

Here are some photos:

I started to help my friend with her Vintage Etsy Store recently. I am helping her with her shoes and accessories (including jewelry) department. We have A LOT of cute things, and I am tempted to keep some of these items myself. Here are a few of my favorites:

This adorable vintage coral ruffle dress:

I also love this
70s gold accordian necklace. An awesome piece to wear on a girls night out:

These vintage YSL eye glasses. For a vintage pair of eyeglasses, they are in excellent condition:

Hurry! A lot of things are being sold, and they're all one-of-a-kind pieces. Go to candyLULU Vintage Shop!

I received this as a gift from my dear friend Terumi that runs kawaiifriendscafe:

I use it to put my little earrings and findings in it. She makes everything from scratch, isn't it adorable?

i am home.

I have made a longer version of the bar necklace. I would say it is more of a statement piece, and I am loving it very much. I wear it everyday :D When I get back to NYC, I'm planning on making this in gold.

The long bar necklace is currently on sale at etsy for $48. It is brushed sterling silver. Such an awesome layering piece to have.

FOCUS.

i need to focus.

on my OWN life. my OWN future. i can't let these stupid outside factors affect my mental health.

my own personal "detox" begins again, where i try to detach myself from the world. no myspace. no facebook. i bet there are people out there that need to seek therapy for that stuff. seriously - it's so addicting. there must be people that have no life outside of their internet profiles.

i definitely don't want to be one of them. this internet stuff should be light and fun.

FOCUS. FOCUS. FOCUS.

NYC. NYC. NYC.

To Forgive.

"Forgiveness is a form of realism. It doesn't deny, minimize, or justify what others have done to us or the pain that we have suffered. It encourages us to look squarely at those old wounds and see them for what they are. And it allows us to see how much energy we have wasted and how much we have damaged ourselves by not forgiving.

Forgiveness is an internal process. It can't be forced, and it doesn't come easy. It brings with it great feelings of wellness and freedom. But we experience this only when we want to heal and when we are willing to work for it.

Forgiveness is a sign of positive self-esteem. We no longer identify ourselves by our past injuries and injustices. We are no longer victims. We claim the right to stop hurting when we say, "I'm tired of the pain, and I want to be healed." At that moment, forgiveness becomes a possibility-although it may take time and much hard work before we finally achieve it.

Forgiveness is letting go of the past. It doesn't erase what happened, but it does allow us to lessen and perhaps even eliminate the pain of the past. The pain from our past no longer dictates how we live in the present, and it no longer determines our future. It also means that we no longer need resentment and anger as an excuse for our shortcomings. We don't need them as a weapon to punish others nor as a shield to protect ourselves by keeping others away. And most importantly, we don't need these feelings to identify who we are. We become more than merely victims of our past.

Forgiveness is no longer wanting to punish those who hurt us. It is understanding that the anger and hatred that we feel toward them hurts us far more than it hurts them. It is seeing how we hide ourselves in our anger and how those feelings prevent us from healing. It is discovering the inner peace that becomes ours when we let go of the past and forget vengeance.

Forgiveness is moving on. It is recognizing all that we have lost because of our refusal to forgive. It is realizing that the energy that we spend hanging on to the past is better spent on improving our present and our future. It is letting go of the past so that we can move on.
We all have been hurt. And at one time or another most of us have made the mistake of trying to run away from the past. The problem is that no matter how fast or how far we run, the past always catches up to us-and usually at the most inopportune time. When we forgive, we are dealing with the past in such a way that we no longer have to run.

For me, learning how to forgive wasn't easy. But I did learn, and my life is better for it - even here on death row."

Let go.

something i will be pondering upon this week:

"We can see that there are many ways in which we actively contribute to our own experience of mental unrest and suffering. Although, in general, mental and emotional afflictions themselves can come naturally, often it is our own reinforcement of those negative emotions that makes them so much worse. For instance when we have anger or hatred towards a person, there is less likelihood of its developing to a very intense degree if we leave it unattended.

However, if we think about the projected injustices done to us, the ways in which we have been unfairly treated, and we keep on thinking about them over and over, then that feeds the hatred. It makes the hatred very powerful and intense. Of course, the same can apply to when we have an attachment towards a particular person; we can feed that by thinking about how beautiful he or she is, and as we keep thinking about the projected qualities that we see in the person, the attachment becomes more and more intense. But this shows how through constant familiarity and thinking, we ourselves can make our emotions more intense and powerful.

We also often add to our pain and suffering by being overly sensitive, overreacting to minor things, and sometimes taking things too personally. We tend to take small things too seriously and blow them up out of proportion, while at the same time we often remain indifferent to the really important things, those things which have profound effects on our lives and long-term consequences and implications.

So I think that to a large extent, whether you suffer depends on how you respond to a given situation."
